Cooking Classes

Tired of the same old meals? Are you looking for something new to cook for the family? Are you a ‘wannabe really good in the kitchen but don’t know where to learn this stuff’ kinda person? Well, after so many people have asked me “THIS IS SO GOOD, how do you make it??” when I have my gourmet meal get togethers at my house… I am now offering cooking classes for beginner and intermediate chef wannabe’s. This is a semi-hands on class where you will be able to take turns with the other students and learn things like proper knife usage, correct measuring tips, healthy meal preparation and just overall good habits for the kitchen. I am a ‘Pescetarian’, (a vegetarian that eats only seafood) and I mainly cook heathy, sometimes organic, wholesome foods. I am a mom of 3 boys and I want to make sure they eat GOOD THINGS for their bodies to keep them as healthy as possible. The dishes I will be making will be incredibly tasty, healthy meals for the whole family to enjoy.

This class is $30 per person. This includes:

1. some hands on cooking and preparation
2. all the recipes for the dishes that are prepared
3. wine tasting for each course
4. YOU GET TO EAT EVERYTHING! So, come hungry!

** Directions to my home will be provided once you sign up for the class.

Check back here monthly as classes will be every last Friday of the month. I will post the next month’s menu a month ahead so you can plan for it.

PLEASE RSVP at least 2 days before the class. I will need an email or phone # for you. PLEASE DO NOT CANCEL THE DAY OF THE CLASS!!! If you know you can’t come, I need advanced notice in case someone else wants to attend. I have a 10 student max for this class! I purchase everything I need the day before so if you sign up, please be courteous and come. THANK YOU!

About the Artsy Gourmet

Jennifer Redstreake (that’s me) grew up in the Southwest and a lot of my dishes are influenced by that. (I am known to put Chamayo chili in just about anything.) I studied under Chef Odette and Fernand Tersiguel, fantastic french chefs and owners of Tersiguel’s Restaurant in Ellicott City, Maryland. I worked with them and watched the chef’s every move for over 4 years. I was assistant to the pastry chef and created dazzling delicious desserts (that sounds good, doesn’t it!) every day. From warm savory roasted garlic goat cheese tarts to Crepe Suzette’s tableside… I have LOTS of experience in the kitchen, which has followed me thru the years to the present, where I still make everything from scratch whenever possible using the FRESHEST and in season ingredients!  I owe a lot to the Tersiguel family as they encouraged my hunger to be in the kitchen and discover new and exciting food preparation techniques. I have over 14 years of pastry and gourmet cooking experience. A graphic designer by trade (this is my day job at UAHuntsville) and an artist during the rest of my waking hours, my creative brain just keeps a-churnin’!

I DO OFFER PRIVATE COOKING LESSONS FOR SINGLE OR PRIVATE PARTIES, IF ANYONE IS INTERESTED! redstreakeart@mac.com
