“Sedona Doorway” – something different for a change…

Last year during my trip to Ghost Ranch, me and the gang took a side trip to Flagstaff and Sedona, AZ, which, unfortunately, was too short of a trip. I fell in LOVE with the red mountains and mesas there, the artistic town itself and the great photo opportunities it presented! This was painted from one of the photos I took there. I have this thing, you see… I shoot widows and doors wherever I go… I dunno why. I just love them. I really loved THIS door as it had some pretty cool turquoise adornments on it. Anyway, this is the watercolor result, finished this evening. I am so HAPPY with it, probably because I love anything pertaining to windows and doors… (I am easy to please). This would be something that I would buy for myself. I may keep it.

  2. The turquoise ornaments are very well done and bring the entire painting to life. Bravo! I really envy anyone who has visited Ghost Ranch! You’re so lucky to have experienced this. O’Keefe has always been my favorite artist.

    1. I agree! I loved those little turquoise ornaments, too! The contrast to the brown of the door is just too cool :-). Thanks for commenting!

  4. I liked the doorway better than the animal themes. Maybe you could stick to the theme.

    1. I do a lot of switching around with my subject matter, might be a while before I get back to animals, but after doing this door, you can bet I will be doing more of these! 🙂
