Green Cotton Boll

After doing that majorly complicated gourd watercolor, I needed to do something a bit more tame… a bit more singular. So, I chose a photo that I took in a cotton field. A tiny cotton boll, so fresh and new, green and tight amidst a field of bursting balls of white. It was fun, very illustrative. I like it. It measures 8 x 10″ on this piece of 2″ cradled aquabord. Using my Daniel Smith watercolors exclusively and my favorite Dynasty paint brushes, I am not sure if I will play a bit more with the background or not on this… it may sit up on the shelf a bit. You know how it can be. It is strange how some things I find simply lovely can be just weird to others. This little painting truly tickles me :-).
