This is the final painting. (posted March 23, 2015)
Paddle Plant WIP
(watercolor on cradled aquabord, 6 x 6 “)
This is the second piece for the Temple of Flora show that will be at the Center for Visual Artists in Greensboro in April. The theme of it is the Paddle Plant. I chose a very abstract shot for this. I am not quite finished with it as I just got the basic colors down and tonight I have to go in and add the details. But from this photo, you can see where I am headed (hopefully!) It is a pretty abstract piece but I like the flow of it. I am working with my trusty Black Gold brushes here and I decided to 86 the Daniel Smith ground and pop a 6 x 6″ piece of Aquabord on top of this handmade framed board. I HAVE to use my aquabord. There is no two ways around it. I fought too much with that DS ground with the Titanum piece. Gah! Although I am happy with how it turned out, I think my furkid heard me curse way too much with its construction. (eye roll). I am a control freak I guess.
I will post a final shot once this piece is done. Until then, thanks for looking!
